Artist Statement
Sylva in the studio
My sculptures are physical representations of the qualities that most of us aspire to in life. They have evolved as a reflection of my dance through life.
My focus now is on landscapes painted in pastel. I work “en plein air” and in my studio occasionally using photographs. I am always excited by the way light permeates the natural world and my deepest desire is to impart to the viewer the impression this instills in me. As I view the landscape it creates a sense of peace and mystery which transfers through my hand as a form of meditation.
